New CNC Lathe arrives!
In the December of 2000, we took delivery of a Colchester 2000L CNC Lathe. Featuring a Fanuc OT control, this will double our turning capacity and give us the flexibility of production-style manufacture. The machine has a gap bed, giving it a possible swing capacity of 580mm, and with a total distance between centres of 1250mm, it will cover the majority of work.
The machine also boasts a 54mm bar capacity and an eight station
indexing turret which should be more than adequate for most production
jobs.
The Fanuc OT control has a degree of compatability with other NC
controls, and can read some other file formats, including DXF, which makes data
transfer easier.
The aquisition of this machine will supplement our current toolmaking abilities and also add another 'string to our bow'.
